The Power of the Pivot: Honouring Shifts and Redirections in Life

Life rarely moves in a straight line. As much as we wish it would, it’s a series of twists, turns, and sometimes unexpected stops that challenge us to pause and reflect. For many of us, passions simmer quietly in the background, waiting for the right moment to shine. But when we take on too much or find ourselves burnt out, those passions can feel like distant memories—dreams we’ve left on a shelf, gathering dust.

Pivoting priorities isn’t a failure; it’s an art form. Its about diving deep into your essence and awareness to reflect, expand,, and open your heart. It’s about recognizing when it’s time to honor a new direction, not out of defeat, but out of growth. Sometimes, the things we temporarily put aside are the very dreams that come back stronger, clearer, and more aligned with who we’ve become.

The Lessons in Shifting

When we pivot, we gain something invaluable: experience. Each step, even those that feel like detours, teaches us something essential about ourselves. We develop skills, uncover resilience, and learn to trust the process. Rejections can feel deeply painful in the moment, but often, if we open our heart, they redirect us to opportunities we didn’t know we needed, and shape us into the people we’re meant to be.

Instead of seeing a pivot as abandoning one path for another, what if we viewed it as a weaving together of all we’ve learned? What if we allowed ourselves the grace to acknowledge that every experience—every "no," every burnout, every stumble—is a step toward the life we’re creating?

Rediscovering Dreams

Since founding Wild Living Wellness in 2022, I’ve carried dreams that feel like whispers at the edge of my heart—dreams of building spaces where people can find connection, healing, and empowerment. These dreams include creating an online library of yoga classes, fitness classes, guided meditations, and more. They include sharing my love for essential oils, not just as a wellness tool but as a way of life deeply integrated into every aspect of my journey.

It took some time for me to move through my ego and realize that as much as I want to do everything all at once and learn all the certifications all at once, there needs to be balance, and in order to obtain that balance, many pivots and shifts need to come through, and openness needs to be help for these moments. Through this, these dreams waited patiently as I navigated other priorities, balancing the demands of life, burnout, and growth. But now, I’m pivoting back to them with renewed energy and intention. I’m also working toward my nutrition coaching certification, envisioning how it will enrich the offerings I provide through my Growth Junkie package. These dreams have always been there; they’ve simply evolved alongside me.

Rejection as Redirection

In my own journey, moments of rejection have often led to the most beautiful redirections. They’ve pushed me to explore areas I never thought I’d step into and allowed me to expand in ways that surprise and fulfill me. Each “no” I’ve encountered has been a nudge toward a more aligned “yes.”

It doesn’t mean that I didn’t feel sadness, fear, anger, and other feelings through the experience, it just means I didn’t let it hold me back from moving forward.

When we embrace the pivots and the redirections, we allow life to teach us. We learn to trust not just the process, but also ourselves.

Honoring the Journey

If you’re feeling the pull to pivot, know this: it’s okay to shift your focus. It’s okay to let go of what no longer serves you and return to what lights you up. Growth isn’t linear, and neither is healing or success. Pivoting is a brave act of self-honor—it’s an acknowledgment that your journey is yours to shape, and that the path forward may look different than you once imagined.

In rediscovering my own dreams, I’ve learned to see the beauty in taking detours. I’ve learned to be kind to myself in the process and to honor the spaces of pause and pivot. And I hope you, too, can find the courage to lean into the redirections, knowing that they often lead to something even more extraordinary than you first envisioned.

Your dreams are worth returning to. Your pivots are worth honoring. Trust the journey—it’s all part of the masterpiece you’re creating.
