Why I love this Washing Liquid
As a Self Employed Massage Therapist, and wellness coach, I do A LOT of laundry. I was tired of spending over $20 per box of detergent pods, only to get about 75 washes out of a box that was indicated for up to 96! I like to keep my clothing and massage sheets as clean and happy as possible for both my patients I treat, and myself, but this felt so expensive! On top of the cost, I learned that most main stream detergents are made with harmful chemicals. The smell is made to be appealing, to hide the toxic effects. I wanted to find a healthier, more natural, and more affordable way to keep my textiles clean, and long lasting. Now that I use these products regularly, I see a positive difference in my finances, my health, and overall wellness. I am hooked! The Thieves line is all natural, non toxic, and made with amazing essential oils. I have found the detergent to clean my textiles better than anything I have before, with so many added benefits from any essential oils added to the batch. This detergent is so easy to make, and the ingredients can be reasonably easily found - even for me in a small town in BC! It is amazing how long they last due to how concentrated they are. I was nervous when I made my first batch that it wouldn't last as long as the detergent pods I was previously using because of how diluted and liquid the mixture is - WOW was I surprised! It lasted more than DOUBLE the detergent pods had for me, for more than half the cost!

The Recipe
Necessary Supplies
- Around a 2 gallon glass Jug with a spigot on the bottom
- Easy mixing spoon
- Measuring Cups for both liquids and powders
- A way to boil water to add to the mixture
- Your favourite essential oils or essential oil blends (optional)
- Measuring cup for use of detergent.
Ingredients
- 3/4 Cup Thieves Laundry Soap*
- 1/4 Cup Thieves Household Cleaner*
- 1 Cup Washing Soda
- 1/2 Cup Baking Soda
- Hot and Boiling Water to top
- Optional Essential oils to desired smell (20-30 drops)
*Thieves Laundry detergent and Household cleaner are extra concentrated. A little goes a LONG way.
Process
I absolutely love this laundry detergent. it is SO easy to make.
Make Sure to start with a clean glass jug! Even if it is new from the store, give it a good wash before using.
To create the batch, it is as simple as measuring out the ingredients and adding them to the mixture! Make sure to keep stirring to break up any particles in the powders, and allow for full absorption into the mixture!
Usage
- For Small loads I recommend 2oz of Washing Liquid
- For Medium loads I recommend 2.5-3oz Washing Liquid
- For Large loads I recommend 3-4oz Washing Liquid
